Rigoletto – Brooklyn Daily Eagle
Gilda was portrayed by Maryam Amatullah-Wali, who possesses an exceptional coloratura soprano with agility and grace, which also has surges of “thrust” that can surprise and delight. After her rapturous love duet with the Duke, she sang “Caro nome.” with exquisite coloratura, thrills galore, and received an ovation. In the vengeance duet she sang an exhilarating high note; then waited for Rigoletto to match her defiance with fury. The house echoed with deafening applause. Her optional high note before her stabbing at the inn was like the golden days at the old Met! Her floating tones at the finale were truly heavenly!
The Magic Flute – Super Conductor
The finest voice in this energetic cast was Maryam Amatullah-Wali, who brought a silvery, yet warm-sounding soprano to the role of Pamina. She found the steel inside the character for her confrontations with Monostatos and sang a warm "Bei mannern" with Papageno. Ms. Amatullah-Wali was at her finest in the second act, delivering a ringing "Tamino, mein" at the opera's climax.
Hansel and Gretel – Opera Pulse
Erika Hennings and Maryam Amatullah-Wali were well-paired vocally as Hansel and Gretel, mixing Hennings’ buoyant and fresh lyric mezzo with Amatullah-Wali’s complementary light silver tones. They both ably inhabited the bodies of the young protagonists.
Le Nozze de Figaro - The Brooklyn Home Reporter
Figaro and his beautiful Susanna (Maryam Amatullah-Wali) are extremely capable and charismatic. Ms. Amatullah-Wali has excellent facial expressions, along with her superb voice.
